 The Story of Our Lady of Fatima

Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children–Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos–received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Mary asked the children to pray the rosary for world peace, for the end of World War I, for sinners, and for the conversion of Russia.

Mary gave the children three secrets. Following the deaths of Francisco and Jacinta in 1919 and 1920 respectively, Lucia revealed the first secret in 1927. It concerned devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The second secret was a vision of hell. When Lucia grew up she became a Carmelite nun and died in 2005 at the age of 97.

Pope John Paul II directed the Holy See’s Secretary of State to reveal the third secret in 2000; it spoke of a “bishop in white” who was shot by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows into him. Many people linked this vision to the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981.

The feast of Our Lady of Fatima was approved by the local bishop in 1930; it was added to the Church’s worldwide calendar in 2002.

Reflection

The message of Fatima is simple: Pray. Unfortunately, some people—not Sister Lucia—have distorted these revelations, making them into an apocalyptic event for which they are now the only reliable interpreters. They have, for example, claimed that Mary’s request that the world be consecrated to her has been ignored. Sister Lucia agreed that Pope John Paul II’s public consecration in St. Peter’s Square on March 25, 1984, fulfilled Mary’s request. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith prepared a June 26, 2000, document explaining the “third secret.”

Mary is perfectly honored when people generously imitate her response “Let it be done to me as you say” (Luke 1:38). Mary can never be seen as a rival to Jesus or to the Church’s teaching authority, as exercised by the college of bishops united with the bishop of Rome.

working students....sometimes they just don't have a place in the school or world. the world of school. the International Labour Organization takes care of any individual who's really more at home in the office or workplace. as perhaps student-age kids should go back to a school kind of life. right now, the working students.....yes maybe they're actually having a round of being lazy at this time. but they will be graduated....when they have become delayed students. at a late graduation kind of thing......... they will have a kind of "graduation process" that may be emotionally and regretfully charged.....just letting go of their old chance in life. accepting their new opportunity. so this process will end and they will finally head to the office to work..... but the office work will dry up you see. you understand that it's your turn to let go and resign already. so the process at home....transitioning from finding a better suitable place for their own personality that is the workplace. towards becoming a student........again. as they continue. they will even find other options of studenthood such as Batch 2 and Batch 3.

then it's like, 2014. and we accidentally crossed roads with Destiny Church.

it's 2014 we met Destiny Church and kind of attended a conference na pangkalahatan, i guess. around Christmastime. then we just thought that yes, that was really inspiring and soul-flamingly touching. but of course, no one can figure out how those members can get a student apartment or call up a friend in the middle of the night. so we're wondering if we can really get our own house. we actually tried travelling outside of the boardinghouse with no money and ended up in Bulacan, Quaipo Church, Manila City. even someplace in Ortigas, Eastwood and Makati. we actually found out for ourselves that we couldn't survive out there....shops open and stuff but you can't just buy anything right. and find a place to sleep right? some people have a banig or mat then lay it on the sidewalk in Manila and sleep there with their family. tayo walang matulugan. natulog lang tayo sa jeep at sumakay pa hanggang sa Marikina.

then it's like 2013 and we're at our own crossroads in life and we're questioninng things for the first time, actually.

actually, we're just choosing classes na rin for ourselves and seeing if we can survive. then we're trying out a lot of apps on the computer. and we're configuring that old red and black mini laptop that says Samsung. then we'll see if we pass. we'll see if we fail. we just try things. we try attending a class in the College of Law. we try researching about Kasambahay in the School of Economics. we try researching about LGBT Christians in Sangandaan, Quezon City. we even try researching Asingan, Pangasinan and also Dagupan, Pangasinan. we met an accident when our Grnadfather Juan Ponce Enrile contracted Colon Cancer in Dagupan, Pangasinan. then we crossed the road with Bread of Life for the first time ---- Biglang nagtatawag sila ng mga youth service. hindi tayo umattend because we actuyally were distracted when we wanted study a MOOC about architecture on iversity.

     The novel “Ang Titser” by Liwayway Arceo revolves around the life of Amelita, a public school teacher, and the tribulations that she has had to face in light of her profession. The story opens with Aling Rosa, Amelita’s somewhat narrow-minded mother, discussing with her husband, Mang Ambo, how she intends to have her daughter marry the affluent Osmundo. Despite this, Amelita insists against involving herself with Osmundo and instead marries Mauro, a fellow public school teacher. Aling Rosa does exhibit her care for her child and grandchild by visiting them at the hospital, although she still uses the opportunity to once more criticize Amelita’s and Mauro’s lifestyles.

      Years later, Rosalida has grown into a smart and obedient child. Osmundo also returns to Nayon for the first time in years and while the community celebrates his return, he notices that Mauro has not been killed. The two decide to make peace, however Amelita is not yet convinced that Osmundo has no ill intentions.
